Mom and Son Decide to Surprise Dad at Airport With ‘Priceless’ Welcome Sign

A TikTok video of a dad getting pranked at the airport by his son and wife has left the internet in stitches.
The viral clip was shared by TikTok user @adhdlandia and has garnered over 207,000 views since it was posted to the social media platform on July 27.
The video’s text overlay reads: “Picking up my husband at the airport from a work trip.”
The footage, which was taken in Texas according to a location shared with the post, shows the poster’s son, 13-year-old Cameron, sitting in the backseat of a car. He’s holding up a large sign that says, “Welcome home from prison Dad. I’m your son.”
TikTok user @adhdlandia told Newsweek via the comments section in the video: “We play pranks on each other a lot. We have three boys, so it gets silly around here. But we all have a good sense of humor. I’m a middle school teacher, so we look to make our own fun.”
Another text overlay message on the video reads: “He was so excited to prank his dad, we took bets on how he would react. But we also wanted to count how many other people we could make smile (or fearful)…”
The footage shows several people laughing while walking past Cameron including a man believed to be TikToker/YouTuber Corey Funk, according to @adhdlandia in the comments section.
On arrival, the dad is shown beaming with smiles upon seeing the sign, while a bystander who wins “best supporting character in a prank” just behind the dad appears very confused.
The dad is seen laughing while embracing his son as a note across the video reads: “Dad wins ‘good sport in a prank.'”
The viral post comes as air travel sees continued growth in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era, when family reunions—such as the hilarious one in the aforementioned video—were all the more precious, with many families separated worldwide to due lockdowns and other safety restrictions.
Total passenger demand in June was reported to be up 9.1 percent compared with the same month in 2023, according to a July report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
“Demand grew across all regions as the peak Northern summer travel season began in June. And with overall capacity growth lagging demand, we saw a very strong average load factor [the percentage of available seats an airline sells on its flights] of 85 percent achieved in both domestic and international operations,” Willie Walsh, the IATA’s director general, said in the report.
“North American carriers saw a 6.6 percent year-on-year increase in demand,” the report added. “Capacity increased 8.6 percent year-on-year, and the load factor was 88.7 percent, the highest among regions.”
Travel is set to hit “record highs” this year, with global tourism spending projected to reach $2 trillion, according to a December 2023 survey by Euromonitor International, a market research firm.
